70 Children and Foster Parents in a Sea Adventure

More than 70 children and their foster parents spent nearly one week in the summer camp Rositsa in Kiten, Bulgaria as part of an initiative of the National Foster Care Association and Mtel. 45 children aged 3 to 13 from all regions of the country took part in the camp. The association chose to give priority for participation to children with disabilities and foster parents with two, three or more children in the family. During the one-week holiday, the parents had the possibility to meet and the children were able to spend time with their peers.

The NFCA carried out two training sessions for the exchange of experience in special needs childcare. Foster parents of disabled children shared the challenges they face.

Thanks to the hosts, the children were able to watch their favourite cartoons in the cinema hall of the camp. The association provided access to its mobile library, where both the kids and the adults could borrow children’s books and professional literature.

“I am happy that we had the opportunity to take the children and parents to the seaside. I am even happier that, together with the personnel of Mtel, we were able to show children the sea for the first time and that they met other kids with their fate.”  Said Miroslav Dolapchiev, president of the NFCA.

The National Foster Care Association is an NGO, which helps children in foster families and their parents toward a happy childhood. The association organises events and launches initiatives in support of foster care and advocates for the rights of the children. The main corporate partner of the association is the leading telecom Mtel.
