On 16th, 17th and 18th of May 2014 inSofia (park-hotelMoscow) has been conducted the National annual meeting “Foster care: all points of view”. More than 150 participants attended, 80 of them- foster parents from all around the country, 18 youths living in foster families, specialists of foster caring, students and others.

On the conference it was discussed the caring for children in foster families, making the foster care a profession and applying it inBulgaria. From the presentation of the Agency of social support it is clear that foster parents are close to 2000 with almost as many settled children. The event started with emotional presentation of the foster parent and president of NAFC Miroslav Dolapchiev. Parallel with this in the next hall was conducted a meeting of the youths under foster care. NAFC invited not only these young people to join but also their brothers and sisters who are blood-related to the foster parents.

During the three-days meeting topics were discussed such as the partnership between specialists and foster parents, relations with the original families of the foster children, issues with loss, separation and others.

In the last day the youths made a strong and emotional presentation in which they shared to the attending specialists and foster parents that it’s important someone to love them and that everything should be done for the children to be in families and not in social institutions.
