National Foster Care Association prides itself on its first graduates and scholars
Bcause Foundation and the National Foster Care Association presented the first scholarships to graduates and students, raised in foster care. The four girls, two of them graduates and the other two – students, received their checks by representatives of the donors for their scholarships - Georgi Georgiev from eCommera and Yanko Dimitrov, a hardware engineer from one of the leading companies for automotive hardware BHTC.
"I am proud of the achievements of our girls and I am glad that together we can support them in their self-dependent life. I remember them years ago, when it was difficult for them to talk about themselves, to share and here they are in front of us - independent, studious and on the way to their personal success ", said Miroslav Dolapchiev, Chairman of National Foster Care Association during the scholarships awarding. He pointed out that this is the second class of graduates, supported by NFCA, who leave foster care, and the first students of the association.
Pavleta Panajotova is a freshman at the College of Tourism in Varna, where she studies for hotels and restaurants manager. Marieta Yordanova is also a first-year student at the Technical University in Gabrovo, where she prepares herself to become a communication equipment and technology engineer. Rosalina Doncheva is one of the graduates, who will receive a scholarship in the last class of high school. She studies for a hotel manager in the Professional School of Tourism and Food Technologies in Targovishte. Her dream is to become a librarian and plans to move to Sofia to study at university, when she finishes her secondary education. Nikolina Kyuchukova is the second graduate, who will be awarded with scholarship for excellent grades. Nikolina is an athlete in the sports school of Haskovo. For 2 years Rosalina and Pavleta were scholars of the program "Continue", targeting students from foster families, and now they continue to receive financial support under the program "Ready for Success".
Within the program "Ready for Success" the scholars receive for the period of 10 months financial support, depending on whether they are graduates or students. For students the total amount of the scholarship is BGN 2000, and for students – BGN 1000.
The scholarship program "Ready for Success" is a program of BCause Foundation (until recently - Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation) since 2006. The program supports the education of children and young people without parents, raised by relatives or in institutions. These children have the minimum resources to meet their basic needs, they are forced to work and they rarely continue their education - their only income is the pension, granted by the state.
The scholarships within "Ready for Success" program are unique in two things:
First, the funds for the scholarships are provided entirely by donations - businesses and individuals.
And second, leading criterion is the successful performance of the candidates.
"The program supports young people not just because they are disadvantaged, but because they have very good achievements and excellent grades. So, we may say that the program is also entrepreneurial", said in front of the guests Yana Rupeva, “Donor Programmes” Director in bcause.
