34 volunteer and 271 professional foster families don’t have accommodated children with them - shows official report of the Agency for Social Assistance requested by the National Association of Foster Care. The data is presented from last day of December 2012. Till 31 January there are established 1380 foster families in the country, of which 1,200 are professional and 180 volunteer foster families.

Most are approved foster parents in Shumen region - 159, followed by Targovishte - 91 Montana - 91, Varna - 86 and others. The least approved foster parents are in Kardzhali District - 8. Most established voluntary foster parents are in Sofia - 37, followed by Gabrovo - 36, and in the regions of Silistra , Targovishte and  Smolyan there is not a single volunteer foster parent.
