The National Foster Care Association Will be Educating People Involved in Foster Care in a New Training Center

In 2014 the National Foster Care Association will be working toward the creation of a Center for the vocational training of foster parents and specialists in the social sphere who aid in the provision of foster care. Another goal of the center will be to provide help to those wishing to acquire a national licence for the rights to inform, consult and train foster parents. This decision was made at the generall assembly of the association. The meeting was held on June 27, 2014 in Sofia.

Among NAFC’s priorities for 2014 is the organisation of a summer camp for youth over the age of 15, residing with foster families, as well as the execution of a series of training seminars for foster parents and specialists in Bulgaria. In consideration of the serious challenges the adoption of children from foster families poses, NAFC, together with its partners, will put together a training booklet about adoption. This guide will be useful to all participants in the process. Another task the association faces is the elaboration of an analysis of the development of foster care in the country. Additionally, experts from the NAFC will participate in the introduction of a unified financial standard, which is to govern the parameters for foster care financing after 2015.

The general assembly of the association approved the 2013 technical and financial report of the association and released Boyan Mihalev Velikov from his duties as a member in the managing committee. The association’s team wished Mr. Velikov luck in his future endeavours and thanked him for his support in the past year.

The size of the membership fee for 2014 was left unchanged. It is to remain 12 BGN for private persons and 120 BGN for legal entities.

The general assembly is conducted in accordance with the managing committee’s decision from June 5, 2014. An invitation to the assembly was published in the 52nd issue of the State Gazette.
